National press ads are 'non-compliant'

Over half of financial promotions surveyed across newspapers on a single Saturday failed to comply with Financial Services Authority (FSA) rules.

The Financial Services Consumer Panel has published a snapshot survey of financial promotions for investments, mortgages and general insurance products published in national and some regional newspapers on 11th February. Of the 220 promotions reviewed 57% did not comply with FSA rules. Broken down according to individual product areas, 79% of general insurance promotions did not comply, 47% of mortgage promotions did not comply and 43% of investment promotions did not comply.
