Friends Prov appoints finance director - papers 10 Oct

Friends Provident has appointed Jim Smart, who was chief financial officer of Boots before its merger with Alliance Unichem, as its new finance director, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Friends Provident said Smart would join the firm on 13 November and join the board on 1 January, taking over from Philip Moore, reports the paper. The firm announced in June Moore would succeed Keith Satchell as chief executive from 1 January. A FLOOD of companies could leave the UK and relocate to lower-tax countries if corporation tax is not lowered, according to the director-general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), says the Times.
