IFAonline study: Tech-savvy advisers seek web future

More than half of the intermediary market would like clients to be able to update their own factfinds online but just one in 10 currently allow customers to do so, according to the results of IFAonline's annual technology survey.

Almost 900 financial intermediaries responded to a comprehensive survey conducted by IFAonline in October 2006, which among other things looked at the IT services financial advisers currently use in their businesses and those they would like to offer to clients. Among the findings is evidence suggesting 30% of respondents think over 75% of their business will be conducted online by 2010 – even though only 9% will do so over the next 12 months - 30% are currently using a full wrap proposition yet only 18% of intermediaries currently have websites designed to manage existing clients.
