A strong start on the FTSE 100 has seen the index jump 8.3 points, or 0.13%, to 6462.6.
British Energy Group is among the early movers, gaining 9.25 points, or 1.92%, to 491.75p, closely followed by Persimmon, up 16 points, or 1.43%, to £11.33, and BP, up eight points, or 1.37%, to 592.5p. However, these gains were stemmed by early losses for Legal & General, down 4.5 points, or 2.99%, to 146p, BT, down 6.5p, or 1.98%, to 321.75p, and Home Retail, down 8p to 403.75p.
