US and Asian struggles drag FTSE under 6,000

Early morning struggles on the FTSE have seen it slip a massive 118 points, almost 2%, to 5990.9.

Only British Land, up four points, or 0.33%, to £12.18, and Hanson, up one point, or 0.09%, to £10.95, are providing any resistance. Huge losses for Invesco, down 28 points, or 4.75%, to 562p, Man Group, down 22.75 points, or 4.67%, to 464.5p, and Kazakhmys, down 54 points, or 4.62%, to £11.16, have dragged the FTSE to its low point. Impacting on the FTSE was a poor day for the Dow Jones, down 167.45 points, or 1.29%, to 12861.47. GEN Motors, down 1.53 points, or 4.63%, to 31.54, Alcoa, down 1.16 points, or 3.33%, to 33.7, and Honeywell International, down 1.65 points, or 2.93%, to 54...
