FTSE ahead as miners shine

The mining sector is once again masking other areas of difficulty for FTSE100 stocks this morning; the index is currently 12.80 points (0.2%) to 6317.10.

Kazakhmys is setting the pace after Credit Suisse raised its target price; it is 6.11% ahead so far to 1945.00 Fellow miners Vedanta Resources and Anglo American are also in the top-5, up 3.24% to 2644 and 2.34% to 3623 respectively. A Deutsche Bank downgrade has hit British Airways hard this morning, 5.26% lower to 220.75. Home builder Wolseley is lower as another gloomy housing survey is released, down 2.94 % to 562. Alliance & Leicester is leading the losses for the banking sector; the lender is 2.89% behind to 428.25. News two top executives were detained by the US Department...
