Early FTSE gains for third straight day

The FTSE 100 made some early gains this morning up by 31.7 points, or 0.48%, to 6681.6.

Sainsbury’s shares climbed rapidly after news that the royal family of Qatar increased their stake to over 25%, up by 27 points, or 4.78%, to 592p. Lonmin shares rose by 3.42% to £41.13 after Morgan Stanley raised its price target, and was followed closely by supermarket group Morrison, which rose by 9.75 points, or 3.24%, to 310.5p. Legal and General group climbed by 1.7%, as did Punch Taverns, with the former up 2.7 points to 158.6p and the latter up by 22 points to £13.17.
