Abbey Isa backlog to last 'til Xmas - papers 14th Dec

ABBEY is still struggling to clear its backlog of Isa savers who wish to transfer their cash Isas to the bank before Christmas and may not clear the 25,000 customers, says the Times .

Abbey now says it will have the problem sorted by Christmas, but the problems started on April 1st, when Abbey launched an Isa paying interest at 5.35% — the best rate on the high street. Since then, however, the Times says it has been inundated with complaints from readers about delays to applications. Problems with the Isa emerged in May, when readers complained of waiting six weeks for money to be transferred but those problems still continue and are unlikely to be cleared up quickly, suggests Patrick Connolly of John Scott and Partners, because people are still interested in buyin...
