Pensions Bill could be delayed by gov't infighting

The first Pensions Bill on state pension reforms could be delayed until the spring.

Sources suggest the government wants to wait until the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) is complete, as this would give them figures up until around 2010-2012 when the reforms are scheduled to come in, and would allow them to assess whether the proposals are actually affordable. And although some in the industry have been informed the Pensions Bill will be mentioned in the Queen’s Speech in November, indicating the bill would go ahead in the next parliamentary session, the actual date of publication is still unclear.
