Turner's S2P proposals could end DB schemes - Aegon

Lord Turner's proposals for the reform of the State Second Pension (S2P) will accelerate the closure of remaining Defined Benefit (DB) schemes, claims Aegon.

A report highlighting its concerns over the proposed reforms to the S2P has been sent by Aegon to government ministers to try and initiate more debate on the subject of State reform. It says the key focus in the pensions debate over the last few months has been the idea of a National Pension Savings Scheme (NPSS) and its alternatives, with very little attention being given to state pension reforms other than recognising there needs to be reform before a NPSS type model with auto-enrolment can be introduced.
