FTSE100 ends week above 6,000

The FTSE100 closed the week above the 6,000 mark for the first time in February which should help boost investor confidence in troubled times.

By the end of the day, the FTSE100 was up 76.10 at 6056.50, buoyed by positive news from the US. Financials has a turnaround after a rocky start with Schroders the top performer up 57.00 at 1066.00. RBOS also rose 18.00 to 384.00. However, the miners ended the day down after a strong start on low copper prices. Kazakhmys was bottom of the heap, down 110.00 at 1610.00. Strong quarterly figures from Citigroup and Google helped the Dow Jones off to a powerful start with the index up 187 points at 12,808.
