Aerospace stocks propel FTSE

Aerospace and commodity stocks are leading the way for the FTSE 100 this morning, driving the index up 29.58 points (0.74%) to 4,032.12 at 8.55am.

BAE Systems has been the morning's largest gainer, up 5.63% to £3.47. This has been followed by aerospace developer Cobham, which has added 4.36% to £1.84. Mining company Rangold Resources has also advanced this morning, up 3.44% to £33.05, while silver and gold producer Fresnillo was up 3.1% to £4.32. Financials are struggling so far this morning, with Standard Chartered the biggest loser, down 2.45% to £9.36. Legal & General Group also fell by 2.35% to 49.8p.
