The pension credit minimum guarantee will rise by £5 a week for a single person and £7.65 a week for a couple, Chancellor Gordon Brown has announced.
In his Pre-Budget report today, Brown states: “In addition to the Basic Pension rising from next April by 3.6% and the winter allowance, the pension credit minimum guarantee will rise by £5 a week for a single person and £7.65 a week for a couple.” In addition, low income pensioners will be provided with free central heating while all other pensioner households will be given extra support towards central heating.
