The FTSE 100 is sluggish this morning as continued housing dramas and a poor start for the majority of miners drag the index 50.90 points (0.84%) down to 5974.70.
The London Stock Exchange Group is leading the losses, down 6.6% to 1598; while Cable and Wireless is struggling, 4.69% lower to 162.40. A poor trading statement for Rio Tinto has hit most of the mining sector, with Lonmin copping the biggest crunch – sliding 4.63% to 3378. A Goldman Sachs upgraded to 'buy' from 'neutral' has led pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca to the morning’s best result, currently 3.23% ahead to 2299.
