Prudential set to meet Resolution on UK sale

Prudential will resume talks to sell its UK operations to Resolution once the insurer has completed its proposed merger with Friends Provident, it has been reported in the Mail on Sunday.

Prudential is believed to have come close to selling all or part of its UK operations to Resolution before the merger with Friends was announced. It says talks are set to re-start whether or not the merger goes ahead. The merger is in some doubt due to Resolution rivals Pearl Group acquiring 16% of the company. Pearl says it wants to discuss the proposal with the Resolution board and learn its rationale for the transaction while exploring alternative opportunities to maximise value. It is also been reported other insurers are still lurking with an interest to purchase either Resolution...
