NORWICH UNION owner Aviva finished 2005 with its strongest quarter of the year, reports The Scotsman.
According to the paper, the UK's largest insurer unveiled UK fourth quarter sales of £2.77bn, a 7% gain on a year earlier, pushing the figure for the whole year to £10.21bn, compared with £10.03bn in 2004. Chief executive Richard Harvey described the performance as "robust" and said the UK business had gained market share. The figures for the year in the UK were depressed by the company's withdrawal from writing less profitable business in the first part of 2005.
