The FTSE 100 is only slightly up 3.5 points, or 0.05%, to 6,436.8 in early trading, as miners offset positive performance news from Compass.
Kingfishers is posting the biggest gains so far with a rise of 2.59% to 257.5p, closely followed by Compass Group which is up 2.59% to 317.25p, after it said trading in the first four months of the year has been “encouraging” and is marginally ahead of expectations. Next is also up 2.33% to £21.04, while Drax has added 1.27% to 678.5p, and AstraZeneca has climbed 1.19% to £29.83, although gains are limited by Scottish & Newcastle which is down 0.86% to 574p.
