A customer information blunder means thousands of Clerical Medical policy holders invested in the provider's with-profit fund will receive a £400 average payout, a statement says.
Clerical Medical found an error in its customer information on bonuses for 28,000 policies. The provider discovered the blunder during a product review. Customers who have cashed in a policy taken out between January 2003 and May 2004 will receive an average cheque of £400, including interest. Existing policyholders will receive the correct payout when their policy is encashed. The provider says it will rectify all current and out-of force policies.
