FTSE up on minor banking recovery

The FTSE shut this evening up 50.10 points, or 0.83%, finishing on and index value of 6,057.70 at the end of trading.

RBS contributed to this increase, advancing 8.30% to 244.75p, while Home Retail WI and AMEC also made gains of 6.35%, to 242.75p and 4.18%, to 884p respectively. At the other end of the scale, Eurasian saw the biggest slide of 77p, or 5.33%, down to a share value of £13.67. Vedanta Resources also saw losses of 81p, or 3.23%, to £24.24 and Persimmon slipped 2.41% down to 456p. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones climbed 24 points, or 0.19%, to 12,527.92 in early trading.
