Retirees without IFA often end up back at work - study

Pensioners that receive independent advice on their retirement fare considerably better than those who do not, according to MGM Advantage.

A survey of the UK’s retirement prospects found that consumers in all circumstances are better off in retirement if they visit an independent financial adviser. Findings from MGM’s Retirement Nation study indicate that just 14% of people seek specific financial advice for their retirement, despite finding clear benefits for those that do. The study also suggests pensioners who do not visit an IFA are four times more likely to be forced back into work due to their financial situation, and are twice as liked to have to downsize their property to fund their retirement aspirations.
