New Star hires managers in UK equity shake-up

Fund managers Charles Deptford and Trevor Green have joined New Star Asset Management as part of the group's restructure of its UK equity desk.

Deptford, who previously ran the Baring UK Growth and Equity Income funds, and Green, formerly manager of the RCM UK Mid Cap, UK Growth and UK High Alpha funds, will arrive at New Star at the end of June. The pair will work closely with Stephen Whittaker, manager of the New Star UK Growth fund and New Star Equity Income unit trust, and Toby Thompson, manager of the New Star Higher Income fund. All three funds are currently fourth-quartile in their respective sectors over one and three years.
