Castlestone plans new Defensive fund launch

Castlestone Management is gauging investor appetite for a Defensive Equity fund, with a view to launching as early as January.

The BVI-domiciled open-ended fund would invest in a mixture of equity indices and managed futures hedge funds, following a largely computer-modelled strategy. Castlestone anticipates 40% of the fund would be held in equity indices, with the balance of 60% in managed futures. The firm pointed out that in the financial turmoil of late 2007 and 2008, when equity prices collapsed, managed futures was one of the few investment strategies that continued to return healthy profits to investors.
