Julius Baer has added an actively managed global convertible bond fund to its UK product range to help give investors portfolio diversification.
The Luxembourg-domiciled fund invests exclusively in investment-grade bonds, mainly from developed economies, to maximise capital protection and minimise credit risk. The fund's strategy has two strands- defensive and tactical- so it can participate in bull markets and outperform in bear ones. Convertible bonds have a bond and equity component and can be converted into a set amount of a company's equity at a predetermined price at certain periods during the bond's life.
