Söderberg & Partners' acquisition of Benchmark has been seen as a strategically logical move but the Swedish wealth manager's long-term success will depend on retaining advisers and successfully integrating the business.
The deal, announced in July, will see Söderberg acquire Benchmark from Schroders, ending months of speculation over the future of the adviser platform and network following Schroders' sale of its wealth management business to Nuveen. The transaction keeps Benchmark together as an integrated business and, according to Söderberg, advisers will continue to operate independently under the new ownership.
