Adviser Breakthrough Solutions, a provider of support services for IFAs, has issued a reminder of rule changes that could see businesses fined by telecoms regulator Ofcom for making cold calls to other businesses.
The new rules started working on 25 June, and come in addition to established rules governing cold calls to consumers.
Calls to any individuals or firms on the so-called Telephone Preference Service list can result in unlimited fines levied by Ofcom, or a £5,000 fine if the caller is a member of the Direct Marketing Association.
ABS says ending all cold calling is not a viable option for businesses that want to maintain an ongoing sales and marketing strategy.
Ensuring up-to-date lists match the TPS on a rolling basis is possible but expensive, ABS adds, which is why it is targeting a service aimed at getting past the rules without incurring equally large expenses.IFAonline
