A new guide to the FSA Handbook has been released by the Association of Independent Financial Advisers in a bid to help IFAs to understand the complexity of the text.
Available from today, the AIFA believes there was a need to produce a shortened version of the FSA Handbook after its technical help-line was swamped with questions about it.
AIFA's director of Policy Fay Goddard says:
"It became clear to us fairly early on when the new regime was being set up that our member firms were likely to experience difficulties in locating and interpreting the rules and guidance for IFAs which were buried in the large and complex new rulebook.
"The objective of the guide is to identify and clarify the key rules which apply to IFAs and, where appropriate, to cross-refer to the full FSA text. It is aimed at IFAs of all sizes, but particularly the smaller firms who do not have dedicated full-time compliance staff."
The IFA's Guide to the FSA Handbook is available from 2 July 2003 - from City & Financial Publishing www.cityandfinancial.com
The handbook will cost £55 plus p&p, but members of AIFA can receive a copy for £49.50 plus p&p.
