Life company analyst Ned Cazalet's latest solvency figures for the industry show an increasing number are facing financial difficulties. Among those with third quartile ratings are Friends Provident, National Mutual and Royal & SunAlliance. Cazalet said any groups in the fourth quartile were 'financially challenged', among those are Equitable, Sun Alliance & London and Alba.
