  1 The death of annuities Your clients will have read the headlines too, following the retirement changes announced by the Chancellor in March 2014: annuities are "finished". Some clients who had recently bought annuities (and who at the time were unsure whether they could benefit from the changes) were shaken by the announcement, and advisers reported an uptick in calls from concerned customers.
