Martin Castle believes it takes more than an understanding of the investment markets to be an effective IFA. In his view, an interest in people and the ability to fully care about and understand individual client needs are the hallmarks of a truly successful adviser.  Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in 1952, Castle's first job was in the accounts department of Fortnum & Mason. After working at other financial services firms, including Prudential, he found himself drawn to a career as an IFA.
