Born in 1966 in Keady, a small village in Northern Ireland, Marie Fanning's love of learning took her to Newcastle upon Tyne to study business studies. She began her career as a graduate in Wales, working for Unigate Dairies as their first female graduate trainee manager for milk distribution. After eight years and several promotions, Marie left Unigate and joined the world of financial services in 1995.
