Pension gold mines Whether or not it was news to financial advisers may be a different matter, but readers of the Telegraph will have been intrigued by a piece claiming hundreds of thousands of savers do not realise they are sitting on guaranteed annuity rates which could double their income in retirement. The paper said the "overwhelming majority" of personal pension plans sold before July 1 1988 contain the guarantees, although providers seems to have been less than forthcoming in explaining this to customers.
