When speaking to adviser veteran Derek Gair one is almost filled with a sense of nostalgia. Gair stands out as a force of continuity in an industry in a state of flux. Very much from the old-school camp of financial advisers, Gair is a partner at Hampshire-based GDC Associates, which he runs alongside fellow partner Gordon Ede. He is also a key member of the Adviser Alliance, established in 2009 as a not for profit organisation to protect freedom of choice for UK consumers which it thinks is threatened by the RDR.
