Once seen as the exclusive domain of the very wealthy, privileged classes, where part of client services might include walking the family dog, private banking has since come a long way. Rick Denton advises how to meet the needs of today's investment-savvy private banking client

For a long time 'private banking' was perceived as a service reserved only for members of the exclusive upper classes. Based around close relationships with wealthy families moving in similar social circles, the private banking service of yesteryear covered a wide range of duties, many of them above and beyond those traditionally associated with 'banking'. For instance, it was not unknown for private bankers to be called in to collect a client's child from school, let the hired help into the family home when the master of the house was unavailable or, indeed, even walk the client's dog. ...
