The three mega-trends are: The global move towards consumer protection Since the great financial crisis, governments and regulators worldwide have moved to put in place greater consumer protection for investors - and, while it may sometimes feel as if the UK regulator is particularly active, it is not alone. The EU is raising suitability standards across the rest of Europe through MiFID II, while the US is adopting a higher fiduciary standard for financial advice through the Department of Labor rule for retirement advisers.
