In mid-June, the government issued its interim response on their seven-year journey to strengthening Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) in the non‑domestic private rented sector. Some may recall their previous consultations in 2019 and 2021 where the plans to implement a minimum energy efficiency standard of ‘B' was introduced. As a reminder, MEES regulations require that a non-domestic property has a minimum energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of ‘E' before it can be let or sold.
