If the UK stock market were a fruit, it would undoubtedly be an avocado. It requires a painstakingly long wait, is ripe for about half a day, and then quickly turns bad. Following the 2008/09 financial crisis, the market largely delivered ten years of subpar returns. Then in 2022, it produced relatively exceptional returns, before reverting to subpar performance in 2023.  One of the biggest challenges, or perhaps observations, we face when presenting portfolios to our IFA clients is our exposure to the UK equity market.
