How often have you done it – bought a house, a car or even a pair of shoes and almost instantly regretted it? And then in time, conclude it was actually the right thing to do? There has been some buyer's regret around for bond investors in the past few weeks. Many have trumpeted 2024 being the year of the bond, after similar prognostications in 2023 failed to materialise. Yet, following a string of strong data releases, especially in the US, bond yields across the G7 are now hitting year-to-date highs. Indeed, in some instances, those are decade-long highs.
