When it comes to divorce, pensions can often be overlooked when coming to a settlement in the distribution of marital assets. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) data released last year showed a 9.6% increase in the number of divorces granted in England and Wales in 2021 (113,505) compared with 2020 (103,592).
