As a sector we're constantly bombarded with statistics about our finances. Perhaps the most concerning of these was released by the charity Samaritans this time last year. In a worrying insight into the potentially tragic implications of money problems, it found that one in five of all calls it received is due to ‘extreme financial distress'. With the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, it's likely that more people will find themselves in financial difficulties in the coming months.
