Technological innovation has brought huge benefits to the advisory community but, writes Mark Loosmore, the proliferation of data sources means businesses could almost certainly now benefit from a 'data detox'

Whether it is social media, news alerts or app notifications, there is so much noise out there it is easy to feel like you are on the edge of information overload. Although it can be tempting to respond to this with the digital equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and drowning everything out, a much more productive solution is to sort the wheat from the chaff by carrying out a bit of a digital detox. I am sure I am not the only who receives multiple early-morning news updates in my inbox, which more often than not find themselves deleted without even being read. Time to detox ...
