Although making consistently correct asset allocation calls is never easy, I think that most investment professionals would agree that the first five months of the year have been particularly challenging. There has certainly been plenty of data flying around to encourage both the bulls and the bears, with the bulls firmly in charge for most of the first quarter as a result of abundant liquidity, encouraging corporate earnings and a generally improving economic outlook.
