UK only 12th in global best places to live list

Britain has failed to make it into the top 10 of the world's best places to live in terms of wealth and overall happiness.

The report by think-tank Legatum Institute placed Finland first, while Britain lags in 12th place behind countries including Australia, Canada and the US. The survey of 104 countries measures not only wealth but general well being. Mediocre scores for health, education, domestic security and levels of personal freedom due to excessive regulation deflated the UK's overall performance.
