Ian McKenna urges advisers to get ahead of open financing

Financial Technology Research Centre founder Ian Mckenna discusses that while advisers remain safe from AI, due diligence is still important, and urges advisers to get ahead of open financing.

"I hate to say this," McKenna stated at the CISI's 2026 Financial Planning Conference, "but one thing that we have to acknowledge about AI is that the overwhelming majority of AI startups will not be here in two years' time." He went on to describe a time earlier in the year when he was discovering a new adviser AI system every day. "The sad reality is only a handful of them are going to survive," he commented.
