Jason Stockwood, the co-owner of Grimsby Town Football Club, has been named Labour's minister for investment after the sudden exit of Poppy Gustafsson last week.

Gustafsson left ahead of the major reshuffle at the heart of government triggered by the resignation of deputy prime minister Angela Rayner. Gustafsson was in the role for less than a year and, according to her LinkedIn profile, she is "enjoying doing nothing for a bit". Stockwood has been given a peerage and will ascend to the House of Lords in order to take up the appointment.
