‘IFAs should build a technology network within their professional one’

Smaller advice firms should build a network with other advisers who want to invest and experience in technology, according to Comotion chief technology officer Derek Gardiner.

Sharing his thoughts on a recent episode of The NextGen Planners Podcast, Gardiner believes that the financial advice industry is going to impacted by technology "one way or another". "You need to talk about strategies for change and innovation within your firm," he advised. "Or hope the inevitable change doesn't affect you negatively." Advisers need to think about what impact the force of technology will have on your business, according to Gardiner. "Artificial intelligence is now getting adopted more and more. Machine learning is not new but now society is feeling its effects." ...
