Falling gilt yields drive DB transfer value increase

Defined benefit (DB) transfer values saw a slim month-on-month increase for the first time this year, reaching a July month-end value of £210,000, according to XPS Pensions Group.

The group's latest transfer value index showed a slight decrease in gilt yields which resulted in the month-end value increasing by £7,000 on June figures. In addition, the latest figures revealed that the number of members transferring also increased to 41 members per 100,000, representing a 41% increase on the preceding month's data.
