IFA warns advice firms to be 'on alert' after phishing attack

User awareness is ‘key’ to combat cybersecurity threats

Advice firms have again been warned to maintain high levels of cybersecurity as two businesses, IFA firm Talis and investment manager Quartet, became targets of phishing attacks last week.

Talis said its Microsoft user email accounts were compromised which resulted in a round of fake emails being sent. "We have reviewed this with our IT consultant and have taken measures to secure all of our accounts. We wish to reassure you that personal information and financial data is held on an entirely separate system which remains secure," Talis said in a communication to clients and contacts.
