Get the balance right Protection advisers are becoming increasingly concerned by Ombudsman rulings where level term assurance (LTA) has been recommended to cover a repayment mortgage. Some customers - perhaps aided by call centres looking for a scandal where there isn't one - are referring cases to the Financial Ombudsman Service on the basis they were mis-sold (or over-sold) because LTA is more expensive than decreasing cover.
