MPs to hear more evidence on new state pension

The work and pensions committee is to hear further evidence on controversy surrounding the new state pension this month.

An inquiry was launched by the committee in October 2015 as concerns were raised over how changes to the state pension had been communicated. The select committee is to hold the oral evidence session Understanding the new state pension at the House of Lords at 3.45pm on 18 January. The government asked questions such as whether the DWP campaign adequately prepares individuals for changes, how government communication could be improved, and how well specific groups are being affected, such as women born between 6 April 1951 and 5 April 1953.
