FCA 'sounds out Swiss regulatory head to replace Wheatley'

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has approached the head of the Swiss financial regulator about the possibility of succeeding Martin Wheatley as CEO, according to a report.

Mark Branson, the chief executive of Switzerland's Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma), is among the candidates the FCA is keen to speak to, Sky News reported, citing 'City sources'. Acting FCA chief executive Tracey McDermott and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Gred Medcraft, plus one unnnamed other, are also candidates according to the report. In July, the FCA announced Wheatley (pictured) would be stepping down from his role as chief executive after four years.
